Pennsylvania to Ohio

We been stopped for the last several days in Toledo, Ohio at the house of M's mom.  Lucky thing.  Shortly after we arrived, a whopper of a storm blew in and we've had gusts up to fifty miles an hour for the last two days.

We've been trying to get a few things accomplished while we're here: We weren't able to finish putting together the electrical and solar system for the trailer before we left Maine, so Mike has been working on that.  We ordered the few components that are still missing and those will be delivered to his dad's house in a few days.  We also packed the trailer's bearings.  I'm learning important things about the infrastructure of the trailer.  Silly me, I thought packing the bearings meant taking them out and putting them back in and rearranging them.  But no, it means injecting new lubricant.

Here's a good video from You Tube demonstrating the process.

We also weighed our trailer and car and calculated our tongue weight at a nearby rock quarry that graciously allowed us to use their scales.  We'd been worried that we might be severely overweight.  Happily, that wasn't the case so we'll travel feeling a little more secure.

I also spent some time on the phone making arrangements for my next Remicade infusion, which must be given in an infusion center (usually within a hospital setting).  We'd hoped to do the infusion in Denver but winter weather and the very limited window of time between now and the date of my next infusion preclude that.   After some unexpected news on the job-front, Mike and I spent an emotionally tense morning discussing our plans and goals, and eventually revised our route to go southwest toward the Texas Gulf Coast after we make a stop in French Lick at his dad's, rather than go directly to Denver.

We had grand plans for visiting parks and the art museum but time flew by while we visited with family, drank adult beverages, and ate local cuisine, and before we knew it, it was time to move on.  We'll probably swing back through on our way home in the spring.

Mmmm, pizza.

Today, there's a break in the weather and we're packing up for the next leg of our journey:  onward to French Lick, Indiana.
