Cochiti Lake Recreation Area

We're at Cochiti Lake Recreation Area, about forty minutes outside of Santa Fe.  We’re here only for one night, and then tomorrow we'll move across the lake to the other campground where we have reservations for 14 days.  

Our site here has a beautiful view off toward the Jemez Mountains in one direction, and down over the lake in the other.

There’s a hummingbird that keeps approaching our back window and a rabbit den about five feet from that same window. The tinted windows are great for wildlife observation.  They can’t tell we’re there so they go about their business as if unobserved. 

There's a short road from the campground down to the lake shore and the boat ramp.  I took the dog down to check it out.   The campground is pretty hilly for walking, but the site is level enough.  I wish we were staying longer.
