Almost Full Worm Moon

Almost full worm moon rising over the Embudo Valley

According to the Farmers' Almanac,  the March full moon is traditionally known as the Worm Moon; it's also known as the Full Crow Moon, the Full Crust Moon, and the Full Sap Moon.  The naming we currently attach to the (approximately) monthly full moons comes from names created by Northern and Eastern Native North American tribes.  Here's the Almanac on the origins of the names of this month's moon:
As the temperature begins to warm and the ground begins to thaw, earthworm casts appear, heralding the return of the robins. The more northern tribes knew this Moon as the Full Crow Moon, when the cawing of crows signaled the end of winter; or the Full Crust Moon, because the snow cover becomes crusted from thawing by day and freezing at night. The Full Sap Moon, marking the time of tapping maple trees, is another variation.
I haven't seen any worm casts in my own garden, during the preliminary bed-digging and soil turning I've been doing.  I still need to track down a batch of worms to put in my outside worm composting bed.
